
We are looking for a few good people to be Volunteer Street Marshals and to help the parade committee with this important task on parade day.
Responsibilities of a street marshal include ensuring that the parade viewers are safely behind the curb and that they are having a good time. Marshals are the "eyes and ears" of the parade committee, get help in case of medical emergencies and will act as witnesses in case of injuries or accidents. Those marshals placed in intersections could be requested to part the crowds and clear the intersections for emergency vehicle access.
We hold one training and information meeting in late June and require all marshals to attend. Positions are assigned at this meeting, information packages are distributed and presentations are given by Calgary Police Service, EMS, Parade Committee Coordinators, etc.
